Why Do So Many Celebs Give Birth to Twins?
Another day, another set of Hollywood twins are born. Is it just IVF, or is Hollywood an incredibly fertile place?
—Molly, Belmont, N.C.
The answer isn't simple. Yes, the celebrities sure are spawning; now it's Ugly Betty's Rebecca Romijn and husband Jerry O'Connell, who join Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Marcia Cross, Geena Davis and scads of others in producing a twofer.
It's only fair that gossip over fertility treatments would follow; all of those women were over 35—old biddies in this business—when they had the twins, including Romijn. (Twin-machine Angelina Jolie isn't quite up there yet, agewise.)
So, have they or haven't they gotten help in getting pregnant? Well...
Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell Welcome Twins
Howard Stern was back to discussing one of his favorite topics his morning: twin girls. This time, though, the context wasn't nearly as titillating as usual.
The shock jock was entrusted by pals Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell to deliver the happy news via his Sirius radio show this morning that the couple is celebrating the birth of twin girls.
Shortly after Stern's announcement, the couple's publicist, Lewis Kay, told E! News that Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip were born Dec. 28, and both the parents and newborns are "all home and doing well."
These are the first children for Romijn, 36, and O'Connell, 34. Romijn said in August that she would name one baby after Dolly Parton; the other was named in honor of O'Connell's bro, Charlie.
In October, the new parents bowed out of attending pal Stern's New York nuptials to Beth Ostrosky after Romijn was placed on partial bed rest.
Jen 'n' Ben's Baby New Year?
Jennifer Garner may be starting off the New Year with a bang and a push.
The ready-to-pop actress, accompanied by doting hubby Ben Affleck, arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center this morning for reasons unknown. (But judging by the size of her stomach and duration of her pregnancy, it's enough to set off the storkwatch.)
As always, Team Affleck kept mum on the morning visit, prefering to maintain some semblance of privacy about the impending birth of their second child.
While Garner has at least appeared to be on the verge of popping for several weeks now, her pregnancy was only confirmed, barely, back in August.
Whenever the delivery, it will mark the second child for the couple, who are already proud parents of 3-year-old daughter Violet.
Update
Sarah Palin's Daughter Delivers
Sarah Palin is a grandma at 44. What a Tripp, eh?
Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old and eldest daughter of the former GOP vice-presidential candidate, has welcomed a son with boyfriend Levi Johnston.
Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston was born Saturday in Palmer, Alaska, weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces, People reports.
"We think it's wonderful," Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother Sally Heath (Sarah's mom), told the magazine. "The baby is fine, and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."
The teenage couple, who caught a lot of flack from some corners and an outpouring of praise and support from others, revealed they were expecting not long after John McCain tapped Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate and Saturday Night Live's saving grace.
Bristol "has our unconditional love and support," her parents said at the time. Johnston said in October that he and his baby mama plan to tie the knot in 2009 and to raise their child together.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz Show Us Bronx
Those Wentzes, such givers.
Flush with the holiday spirit, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz decided to spread a little Bronx cheer this Christmas—the first public photo of their spawn.
"We decided to share the best gift we could ever receive with you: Bronx Mowgli Wentz. We couldn't be happier," they wrote in a post on the Fall Out Boy's blog at FriendsorEnemies.com.
The couple also encouraged contributions to a trio of their fave charities, including the foundation of pals and fellow new parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden.
Lance Armstrong Expecting Child No. 4
Lance Armstrong is gearing up for another birth cycle.
The seven-time Tour De France champion, in the middle of training for a return to professional cycling, is expecting his first child with girlfriend Anna Hansen, E! News confirmed Tuesday.
This will be the fourth child for the 37-year-old testicular-cancer survivor. He has three—conceived via in vitro fertilization with sperm stored before his cancer sugery—with ex-wife Kristin Richard Armstrong: 7-year-old twin daughters, Isabelle and Grace, and a 9-year-old son, Luke.
Kate Beckinsale On Juggling Two Guys at Once
Kate Beckinsale has more than just one man in her life.
The very much married Beckinsale likes to keep former boyfriend Michael Sheen close. But there's nothing kinky going on—it's all for her 10-year-old daughter Lily's sake. "We're a family with two dads," Beckinsale tells the new issue of Self magazine, referring to her ex and her husband, director Len Wiseman. "Somehow it all works out."
Beckinsale, who shares parenting duties with Sheen, says, "Lily [walks] around the house going, 'Daddy!' and several people [say], 'Yes?' It's kind of funny. 'No, not you, the other one!' "
And the family-friendly jokes continue...
Pete Wentz Totally Milks It
Pete Wentz has no problem revealing personal information, unless you think revealing personal information is in its own way a kind of problem.
In which case he may have a problem.
Case in point: The new dad recently revealed in a radio interview that he's tasted wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz's breast milk, adding the shocking admission that it tasted "weird."
Forgetting for a moment that most things designed for babies—diapers, pacifiers, Sesame Street's Elmo—usually seem a little weird for adults, we just have to wonder when Pete will run out of nonwentzical gems to reveal about himself and those around him.
Our guess? Never.
Heidi and Spencer Want a Baby ASAP
Tonight, after Heidi and Spencer make their fake marriage fake legal (or real legal, if you believe Spence) on The Hills finale, they're going to have to figure out some new way to one-up themselves. Unfortunately, that could mean having a baby.
The newlyweds called in to buddy Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM morning show Monday, where Ryan revealed a birdie is telling tales of the couple trying to get pregnant. This little bird seems to know what it’s talking about, and Spencer confirms, “We definitely need a kid ASAP.”
Best-case scenario: They go ahead with a fake pregnancy and are blessed with a darling fake kid who will, hopefully, make a few extra bucks to put away for college and goes home to a real family at night. Or...they bring an actual child into their reality world and, in the tradition of its wannabe folks, the kid turns into the biggest Tinseltown ham.
Angie Harmon, Hubby Add to Their Girl Group
Another baby has touched down at Angie Harmon's house.
The former Women's Murder Club star and her retired NFL star hubby, Jason Sehorn, welcomed their third daughter Thursday, a "healthy baby girl" named Emery Hope Sehorn, Harmon's rep tells People.
Emery joins sisters Finley Faith, 5, and Avery Grace, 3, in the family nursery.
Sehorn, who popped the question to his wife of seven years during a Tonight Show taping, told the magazine in September that his older girls were "very excited" about the coming new addition, and that if it was a girl her siblings, "God bless her, will beat her down out of love."
But the couple didn't want their latest pregnancy to be a public affair—back when Harmon was about four months along, the couple specifically denied rumors that they were expecting, to "take back the right to release the joyous news themselves," the actress' rep said.
Jodie Sweetin's Ex Alleges Substance Abuse, Family Court Investigates
In order to be with her baby daughter, Jodie Sweetin has to have a full house.
After an emergency family court investigation into the former child star's lifestyle, a judge issued a temporary custody ruling Wednesday stipulating that Sweetin has to be at her parents' home, where she's currently living, or at least in their presence when she's taking care of her 8-month-old daughter, Zoie.
Sweetin currently shares custody with estranged hubby Cody Herpin and is looking to make the joint arrangement permanent. Herpin, however, requested sole legal and physical custody and spousal support several weeks after Sweetin filed for a legal separation.
90210 Threesome In the Works?!
Jessica Stroup could be looking for a threesome!
The 90210 starlet says she wouldn't mind if her character, Silver, got it on with boyfriend Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and new bisexual character Christina Worthy, played by Lauren London. “Let’s do it!” Stroup said last night at the D&G flagship store unveiling and Art of Elysium benefit on Robertson Boulevard. “That would be real steamy. I wouldn’t be opposed!”
Threesome or not, Stroup said the presence of Christina Worthy will be a pressing time for Silver and Dixon’s relationship. “[London’s character] is trying to steal my man!" she explained. "So this is going to test the boundaries of how far and how much Dixon and Silver care about each other, where it’s gonna go.”
Speaking of the 90210 spinoff, what’s the latest with the revived Melrose Place?
